International Pay it Forward Day Thursday 25th April, 2013

International Pay it Forward Day –
Thursday 25th April, 2013

Many of us have heard of the concept ‘pay it forward’ now there is an international day for it! The international day began in 2012 with the movement involving people from all around the world.

Anyone can be involved and it doesn’t cost you anything, if you don’t want it to. Paying it forward can involve checking on a neighbour, buying someone a coffee, visiting a nursing home or picking up some rubbish.

Teachers might find creative ways to promote the act of paying it forward in their classroom or school community. Older students can come up with their own unique ways of helping others and ultimately pay it forward. It really is amazing how many people just one person can help and when you extrapolate that with each proactive person, it results in a gigantic ripple effect felt around the globe.

Teachers need to pick a day close to or on the Pay it Forward Day (April, 25th) with their students. After you have explained and discussed the concept, children can come up with ways to ‘pay it forward’.

There is a comprehensive pack for teachers including ideas, recounts of ways to help from schools around the world, planning ideas for teachers, notes to parents, school involvement outlines, pay if forward cards for high-school and primary.
