Paper Plate Sun with straws for sunshine

Paper Plate Sun: Tuesday Art Linky

I’m linking up with Mel over at From the Pond who has inspiration blog series called, Tuesday Art Linky. Drop by Mel’s blog to see what great art ideas she has.

This Summer/Spring craft idea is ideal for K-3 students.
It’s simple to make with only a few materials that you probably have handy.

Paper plate sun with straws for sunshine

You will need:

Paper Plate Sun: Tuesday Art Linky

– paper plates

– straws (about 30-40 each)
– Elmer’s or PVA glue
– paint (sun tones) and paint brushes
– googly eyes optional
Procedure:

Paper Plate Sun Craft: Tuesday Art Linky
1. Children paint their paper plate and set aside to dry.
2. On the next day (or a few hours later), children carefully paste the straws on in the fashion of sunshine/rays. Younger children may need adult help to stick the straws in position.

3. Allow to dry.
Variation: Add googly eyes, a nose and a smile for a face if you feel your sun needs to be a character!

I love this song! I would always sing it with my kids. I never knew the "I'll always love you" verse! Your craft is precious! Thank you for sharing! Carolyn <a href="http://www.ckisl…: Holding Hands and Sticking Together</a>
