May 20th will be etched in our brains for years to come. This was the day that Moore, Oklahoma was hit by a devastating tornado that destroyed Briarwood and Plaza Towers Elementary Schools and many homes in Moore. We can’t begin to image what harrow they went through and how it has impacted their lives. I still ponder what they must be going through as they rebuild their lives. It makes me feel very grateful for everyone and everything in my life.
If you haven’t seen the devastation caused, have a look at this link and hover over the before images to see the aftermath of Briarwood and Plaza Towers Elementary School. Brace yourself, it is totally devastating to view.
So many wonderful teachers from TpT got together to donate resources. In fact, there were several packs put together within days of the devastation.
The wonderful Teresa Hoover volunteered to put together the donations for the K-3 teachers, while Darlene Anne put together the 4-6 donations. We had help (a lot of help!) from two fantastic people, Dani from Crayonbox Learning and Dee Ann Moran, a TpT seller who lives and teaches in Moore.
Pop on over to Darlene’s blog, Meatballs in the Middle to read a bit more and to view all of the brilliant resources that were donated.
I jumped in to donate my Classroom Manners and Social Skills Posters, as I thought it might be a handy resource to those classrooms who have to start again. Although these posters are not Common Core related but a valuable resource for the whole year.
I will keep you updated on any news that comes my regarding the rebuilding of Briarwood and Plaza Towers Elementary Schools in Moore.
