It’s that time of year again! Yup, that time where you spend loads and loads of time explicitly teaching, modeling and praising desired expectations.
When you break down what you expect of children as social beings and intrinsically as individual learners, there are so many expectations. Many times, we may take the time to teach them explicitly throughout the year, especially in the younger grades, but we all know it’s an ongoing phenomenon that must be revisited week after week.
So to help you both at the beginning of the week and throughout the year, I have developed these social skills/manners/expectations posters and flippy books.
Social Skills Flippy Books with Manners/Expectations Posters COMBO
If you have already downloaded the ‘Classroom Manners and Expectations Poster’, don’t worry, I have made them available without the posters so you don’t waste money, click here to see.
Some children will just need a few reminders about a particular skill, where some will need guided instruction and constant praise.
The mini flippy books for K-2 students help break down the more difficult skills.
Prior to completing the social skills flip books, you can brainstorm possible sentence endings for each page (x 3) of the flippy books.
The artwork above matches the clipart seen on the social skills posters designed by EduClips. The drawing below is by me!
The anchor chart matches the poster but uses a personal pronoun to make it more relatable for children.
Posters come in both color and black and white.
They are super easy to make! The file includes ready to go instructions for our concrete learners.
Students can also document their work by pasting flippies in their notebooks.
Revisit and evaluate skills using this card. Just add stickers or stamps to show progress. This would be ideal to prevent and or address undesired manners/expectations.
I like to find a few minutes to sit with individuals (small group) as they complete the printable pages that require them to comment on how they feel they are going with their social skills. You can use this as a preventative or as a measure to address unwanted behaviors.
This one page desk mate or classroom poster can be used as a reminder for individuals and includes the Classroom Manners seen in the file.
